Large Format Photography

A series of images obtained with large format cameras.
"Large" is anything that goes beyond the medium format, which uses a film of 6 cm wide (the "classic" 35mm format uses a film of only 24mm in wide!).
I usually shot in the American size 4 "x 5" (about 10x12cm), cause I like the squarish ratio, 9x12cm (European version of the american 4x5 , intercheangeable by using the right holder in modern 4x5 or 9x12 cameras) , 13x18cm, 5 "x7" using self-built or antique machines.

The small square picture - zeiss ikon taxona

A little series taken with a Zeiss Ikon Taxona . A peculiarity of this camera is that it snaps square 24x24 mm pictures, resembling the proportions of the 60x60mm medium format film, so much loved by the fans of Hasselblad.

The best camera is the one You have with You

this was the title from Chase Jarvis book.
So, in our modern lifes, is often a smartphone.
Quality isn't great, but we have to think that most of the research it have been in camera developement wasen't really about the quality, but about the convenience and the portability.
Nothing beats still today a 19 century 8x10 field camera in terms of quality.
But probably You won't have always with You.
I'm currently using a midrange telephone, an asus zenfone max.

The Electronic Cigarette

Electronic Art and Electronic Cigarette : A Very interesting parallelism.
As the traditional bohemian stereotyped artist is supposed to wear a scarf, and to smoke the pipe or some hand rolled cigarettes , The Electronic artist is supposed to vape the electronic cigarette.
This is a quote, so, is not something can be discussed.
Pure truth.
So, obviously, being an Electronic artist, I had to turn myself into an electronic cigarette vaper.

Odysseus and the Sirens (or the mermaids, maybe)

Once he hears to his heart's content, sails on, a wiser man.
We know all the pains that the Greeks and Trojans once endured on the spreading plain of Troy when the gods willed it so all that comes to pass on the fertile earth, we know it all! Odysseus was curious as to what the Sirens sang to him, so, on Circe's advice, he had all of his sailors plug their ears with beeswax and tie him to the mast.
He ordered his men to leave him tied tightly to the mast, no matter how much he would beg.

Concert video scenography - Rachmaninov

This set design was realized combining several pieces of animation on the notes of Maria Pia Carola piano, performing Rachmaninov's "Etudes Tableaux op 39".
Both executions had to be performed "live" : the pianist was playing , i was mixing and transforming my 3d animation pieces previously elaborated for the event.
The final results would be delivered by connecting 3 different projectors to a vj dedicated workstation, using retro projection techniques and standard set design equipment.
The public is surrounded by a continuous flux of images and music.

Unchained Kebab - 3d realistic kebab

3d Realistic Kebab, spinning and rolling on romantic music.
In tensed cultural differences times, a symbol of peace, bringing together people having different traditions and religions, but with a wonderful common objective: fill their stomach with few euros.
Cause if You can make not photorealistic rendering, you can usually also can make quite realistic stuff.
Then , It is a matter of time, passion and energy creating something.

Futurist Luddite

Futurism and Luddite : an Oxymore? Probably.
Technology helping so much anyone communicating, publishing whatever he wants, writing whatever he wants...
But did it educated the taste of people?? Let's take a great self-publishing , such youtube.
It helps promoting the spreading of the culture, allowing anybody to give his great contribute to the spreading of the culture and the enrichment of the human species.
Then , which are the most viewed video on youtube? Mostly light contents, one popular crocodile kids song, nice female ass in underwear.
